Key Note Speakers:

  • Vicky Tauli-Corpuz (Former Indigenous Special Rapporteur to the United Nations 2014 - 2020. The Indigenous and gender adviser to the Third World Network, a member of the United Nations Development Program Civil Society Organisations Advisory Committee and a member of the World Future Council
  •  Tarcila Rivera Zea (a Quechua from South America, from member for the United Nations Permanent Forum on indigenous Issues and was granted the Visionary Award by the Ford Foundation in 2011 for her work with Indigenous peoples.
  • Lucy Mulenke (Massi woman, is the Executive of the International Information Network, co-founder of the Indigenous women and biodiversity network and the African Indigenous women's organisation and has been an advisory member in several global development organisations such as he UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration and the Global Environment Facility. 
  • Natalie Lewis is a Gamilaraay woman and the Commissioner of the Queensland Family and Child Commission. 
  • Natalie is fiercely committed to progressing a transformational reform agenda to strengthen Queensland’s focus on children’s rights. Her passion for children’s rights is inspired by the experiences of children and young people disadvantaged by the systems designed to protect them, especially those in statutory child and youth justice systems. Natalie has dedicated her career to improving life outcomes for First Nations Peoples across Australia and is deeply committed to addressing the systemic and structural issues that disproportionately affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families. 

  • Cassie Lang -Proud Bundjalung woman, Cassie Lang is a force within the Native Title and Indigenous Cultural Heritage legal space. Driven by her innate need to tell a full story, Cassie’s tailored approach to law allows her to effectively navigate the layers of politics between community, government, and other stakeholders.
    In Cassie’s fourteen years of legal expertise, she has helped Registered Native Title Body Corporates (RNTBCs) incorporate their cultural governance framework into negotiations and the way they wish to do business.
