After the presentation, attendees are welcome to purchase a book and/or get their book signed by the author in the Research & Information room on the 2nd floor of the library.

Pre-registration is closing on Friday, 5/30, at 12 PM. Pre-registered attendees will receive priority seating. Walk-ins are welcome if capacity allows.

Join us for a lively discussion with three-time Coretta Scott King Award winner Sharon G. Flake, in conversation with middle grade author novelist Tracy Baptiste. Ms. Flake published her groundbreaking work The Skin I’m In 25 years ago, changing the landscape of middle grade publishing and inspiring a generation of young people. Sharon will discuss the impact her work has had in education and publishing as well as her latest novel The Family I’m In. This session is perfect for readers young and old alike!

Biography

Sharon G. Flake has sold over a million copies of her books worldwide, inspiring young readers through novels, chapter books, and illustrated works. She has received multiple Coretta Scott King Author Honor Awards, NAACP Image Award nominations, and was a Kirkus Award nominee. Her impactful work has influenced many writers in teen literature.

Tracey Baptiste is a New York Times bestselling author best known for the creepy Caribbean trilogy: The Jumbies. She writes fiction and nonfiction for all ages, including the picture book BECAUSE CLAUDETTE, the middle grade AFRICAN ICONS, and her latest books MOKO MAGIC: CARNIVAL CHAOS and the sci-fi adventure BOY 2.0.
