Music in the Somerset Hills proudly presents a transcendent evening of French music, featuring Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, performed by the Somerset Hills Chorus under the direction of Grammy-nominated conductor Stephen Sands. This deeply moving program will take place on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Morristown, NJ.
Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem is a masterpiece of 20th-century choral music, weaving Gregorian chant with rich harmonies to create an atmosphere of profound serenity and introspection.
“Duruflé’s Requiem is one of the most sublime and deeply affecting choral works ever written,” says Stephen Sands, Artistic Director of Music in the Somerset Hills. “Its intricate harmonies and chant-like melodies create a transcendent experience that resonates with audiences on a deeply personal level.”
The performance will showcase the combined talents of the Somerset Hills Chorus, professional soloists Pamela Terry and Jonathan Woody, world renowned organist Eric Plutz and two special guest instrumentalists, promising an evening of exquisite music-making in the warm and acoustically rich setting of the Presbyterian Church in Morristown.
