A website is a (special type of) file! When you access a website, you're actually reaching out to another computer somewhere in the world, and requesting for it to send you that file.
What is your browser? Your browser is a program that lets you open website files and interact with them. It handles requests to other computers and the responses they reply with, and takes care of "rendering" the files so that they look like websites instead of jumbles of code.
As web developers, we write website files so that other people can access them via their browsers. The languages these files are written in are HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
