She Maps "Teaching With Drones" Workshop - Brisbane
Event description
Teaching STEM & HASSÂ with educational drones &Â other geospatial applications
In an age where drone technologies are utilised in various jobs and a significant amount of data used for decision-making has a geospatial connection, integrating drones into STEM and HASS lessons offers benefits that extend beyond simply teaching 21st-century skills. Our experience has demonstrated that incorporating drones into STEM and HASS classes leads to greater student engagement, especially among those who may not naturally gravitate towards these subjects. This approach fosters a more diverse and inclusive classroom environment.
We are excited to invite teachers to a full-day workshop aimed at demonstrating how to use programmable drones and non-drone-based geospatial applications in their teaching. The workshop will take place at Australia’s largest geospatial conference, Locate 25 (a ticket to the conference is not required but can be purchased here) and is designed for any teacher new to teaching with drones, as well as those who are familiar with drones but wish to adopt a more pedagogical approach to teaching with modern technologies. Teachers will learn how to create safe and inclusive learning environments in which students learn to fly and code drones and use drone technologies to solve real-world STEM & HASS challenges.
Workshop participants will also hear about the career opportunities within the rapidly growing geospatial industry and what this means for current students, before touring the trade exhibition hall to explore the latest technology, network with key businesses in the space and geospatial sectors, and learn about current industry trends. We can't wait to have teachers flying with us!
