Description
After a long silence, Nomads Collective returns with Shedding.
Bringing together 10 visual artists and 10 musicians, SHEDDING transforms Machine Hall into an immersive experience of art, sound and performance. A one-night immersive art experience inside Machine Hall, opening a conversation between tradition and contemporary art expressions.
Set within a former power substation, the event is amplified by the building itself: its history, its industrial weight, and the charge of a place once built to power the city.
Built through performance, music, installation, and visual work, Shedding brings together artists drawn to experimentation, enquiry, transformation, and release.
Across the night, artists move through questions of exposure, distortion, memory and the surfaces we carry. At a time when the self is constantly watched, performed, and repeated, Shedding looks toward what sits underneath. We circle the moment where something starts to give.
This event is taking place at Machine Hall as part of their MPWR series.

Cameron Undy
Cameron Undy is a prominent Australian bassist/guitarist/composer/digital-creator. He spent the early part of the 2000’s recording and performing throughout Europe with 'Nu Jazz' dance floor artists, returning in 2004 to co-found Sydney music venue, ‘505’ earning mentions in Sydney Morning Herald's annual, 100 Most Influential and Inspiring People, and Downbeat Magazine’s, Top Jazz Clubs in the World. Performed with American jazz legends, Pharaoh Sanders, Sam Rivers and Don Pullen. Recorded 5 albums with world wide number one songwriter, ‘Passenger’. Recently Released three solo albums, ‘Bloodshot’ (Earshift Music 2021), ‘Ghost Frequency’ (Earshift Music 2022) 5 stars (The Weekend Australian) and ‘Ghost Frequency II - Resonance’ (Earshift Music 2024). Currently conducting research in algorithmically generative African/clave rhythm at the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development and lecturing in jazz, improvisation and drumming at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Godriguez/David Rodriguez/Godtet
Godriguez is the solo project of Australian-Spanish guitarist, producer, and composer David Rodriguez-Lovibond. Known for weaving jazz, beat-making, and experimental textures into one cohesive sound, he’s carved a place as one of Australia’s most adventurous musical voices. Beyond his solo work, he leads the acclaimed ensemble GODTET, has collaborated with artists like Sampa the Great, Genesis Owusu, and Andrew Gurruwiwi, and has taken his music from underground clubs to the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony orchestra and international stages. With roots in hip hop production and deep training in jazz, Godriguez thrives in the spaces between — improvisation, groove, and raw experimentation. His music is equal parts meditative and hard-hitting, always chasing new forms of expression. Okayplayer - “Godriguez deserves abundant praise for his progressive tones and wide-spanning style. Sinister Minister
Sinister Minister is the solo project of Cold/Heat frontman John Hynd. He plays live electronic/ techno music with the intention of knocking on locked doors, exploring faded memories and a past tried forgotten. He plays Minister to that which is Sinister.
Tunnel Signs
Tunnel Signs is the alias of Ash Moses, an Australian-born DJ and producer whose music explores the darker shades of elegant electronics. A lover of both the brooding and the beautiful, Moses crafts tracks that exist between the shadows of reverb-drenched post-punk, hypnotic techno, and cosmic disco. His early releases found a home on labels like IOHYOU!, Clouded Vision and Cut Copy’s Cutters Records. Moses has continued to evolve his sound with recent releases on Darkroom Dubs, the legendary label founded by Silicone Soul and has teamed up with enfant terrible DJ Reenie for a collaboration on the iconic Motorik label. His music has earned support from influential figures like Skatebard, Paul Woolford, Gerd Janson, James Murphy, Massimiliano Pagliara and even landed as the soundtrack for an international ad campaign for Pandora through his Barney In The Tunnel project with Sydney/Eora hero Barney Kato.

Carlos is a Colombian-Australian interdisciplinary performance artist. Whose practice reflects the exploration of themes around the idea of home, cultural displacement, the perception of our surroundings, and how one constructs a memory of a space.
Kyra Martens - Otis
Kyra Martens, (artist alias Otis), is a South African-born multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans installation, visual arts, media, and event-based experiences. For seven years, Kyra has worked at the intersection of exhibitions, live music, and creative direction, coordinating, collaborating, and designing content for dynamic creative events.
Sebastian Garcia Laverde - sebstroke
Multi-media artist. His practice moves across painting, video, installation, light, and spatial intervention, exploring the tension between beauty, absurdity, identity, memory, and the instability of the self. His work is driven by an interest in moments where meaning feels both present and impossible to fully hold. For the past eight years, he has lived and worked in Sydney, developing his practice through solo experimentation, collaboration, and participation in art collectives, exhibitions, music showcases, and immersive experiences.
Benjamin Samuels
Benjamin Samuels is an Australian saxophonist, clarinetist, producer and composer. He started learning clarinet at a young age and soon realised he had a strong passion for music. He then went on to study saxophone and clarinet at The Sydney Conservatorium of Music with Sandy Evans and at Monash University with Julien Wilson, completing both Jazz and Classical degrees with Honours.

MORE JOYOUS is the solo project of a Sydney-based producer whose work carries a mix of instinct, intricacy and emotional force. After years collaborating across the local scene with projects including Blank Space, Benjamin Samuels, Blue Chip Mint, ROBÉ OR ROBE, Broken Angles, Luke Hansen and Robert Duvabi, his recent focus has turned inward, building dense, intimate sonic worlds that feel both unstable and unpredictable. For Shedding, MORE JOYOUS will build a live set that embraces fragmentation, tension as a way of reaching something more essential

Carlos Velasquez is a Colombian artist, currently based in Sydney, Australia. Since 2011, he has exhibited his work in Colombia, the USA, Spain, and Australia. His artistic practice involves experimenting with drawing, video, and photography. As an essential part of his artistic practice, he believes that art involves contemplating how ideas originate in the subconscious and how they can evolve into shared experiences. This process retains a personal, indescribable quality, with perception at the core of his work. It serves as our natural instrument for translating the phenomena around us and within us. As an artist, he feels it is essential to create a space for the audience to engage with the artwork. This interaction encourages reflection on what we perceive, how it affects us, and the connections that can be made between the artwork and each viewer. Felix Middleton
Felix Middleton looks into the fragile border between private and public experience, and the subtle ways we inhabit, perform, and discard versions of ourselves depending on the spaces we are in. His work puts the viewer into his eyes as witness to these intimate moments being observed, some fictional and some grounded in reality. His work explores how objects and architectural spaces hold traces of us, gestures, memories, and the quiet rituals that shape identity beneath the surface. This current work focuses more on the intimate observations of how we convey, power and vulnerability through our bodies, and how the way we move within a space conveys a part of our identity. He’s interested in the moment when a familiar gesture becomes strange, when the self becomes exposed.
