Visit one of Sydney's rarest urban forests - Sheldon Forest.

This magnificent Blue Gum High Forest community is one of the best examples of Ashfield Shale that explains why this forest is of such high conservation value as it transitions from Blue Gum High Forest to Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest.

This Blue Gum High Forest is a critically endangered plant community of which only around 5% survives from its pre-European cover. Sydney blue gum Eucalyptus saligna is the dominant tree species

Geologist Dr John Martyn will share his geological knowledge and insights into this rare urban forest as the final event in the FOKE Ku-ring-gai Geo-region series. Geoscientist Angus M. Robinson will explain how this walking trail forms part of the development of the GeoRegion community project.

The track begins at the Friends of Ku-ring-gai Environment (FOKE) signs at the entrance track to Sheldon Forest (behind the Scout Hall).

9.45am for 10 am start. Finish at 12 noon.
