Event description

Cloud 909 & Transit Recs form a covalent bond on March 21 for SHELLCODE: a progressive exploration of the technogenome.

Featuring:

  • Extended set from Kalahari Oyster Cult boss Rey Colino
  • 2 stages with over 9 hours of playtime
  • Eora debut live performance from Guy Contact & Solar Suite
  • Local mitochondrial powerhouse au4r33y
  • Bluering (live), Orla & Bats, LOAF, Skriv B2B Crazy Pig, Jessie Belters, TOBLERON3, El Discotheque.

This audiovisual feast will be strung together in the nucleus that is the Bridge Hotel. This night promises to scientifically answer the question: What the f*ck is Aussie Prog?

Cloud 909 acknowledges this event will be held on the unceded land of the Eora nation. It always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land. If you’re Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and are looking for help to make it to the show, please direct message any of the organisers.

Artist Details Below -

First name on the paper is Kalahari Oyster Cult, Mineral Cuts and One Eye Witness brainstrust Rey Colino. The Amsterdam-based Belgian might have done more for the ‘Aussie Prog’ sound than anyone north of the equator. His Oyster Cult releases have featured Roza Terenzi, Reptant, Fantastic Man, Furious Frank, and other proponents of the scaly-bassline trans-biome sound of the southern continent. But he’s not only brought refinement to the doof, he’s passed peer review from all corners of the international scene at festival slots at Dekmantel, Dekmantel Selektors and Lentekabinet, radio slots with Red Light Radio and The Lot, and club appearances everywhere from New York’s Nowadays to Naarm’s Miscellania. By splicing the perfect strands of genres thought long-extinct, the John Hammond of Trance and IDM has forged an international career as a truly omnivorous DJ. Life has found a way to bring him to the Emerald City for an extended set at SHELLCODE that will not remain in the enclosure.

From close to home but forever with further to feel, Guy Contact and Solar Suite bring the Sydney debut of their collaborative live set to the Bridge. Boorloo-to-Naarm-via-the-Nullarbor synthesist Guy Contact has been flat out since his LP ‘Drinking from the Mirage’ released on Butter Sessions in 2021 to broad acclaim. Since, he’s continued to release and tour prodigiously, chugging along with EPs on R.A.N.D. and Craigie Knowes. At SHELLCODE, GC will be joined by frequent-collaborator Solar Suite, another Victorian capital-P Prog practitioner. Renewable, refined and respected in the Yarra River basin, his construction has experienced high visibility since breaking out on Echocentric Records in 2020. The duo’s live collaboration has kicked through DAWs like a velociraptor since debuting over the summer, and we can’t wait to see how they make us trip when they migrate north of the Grampians this March.

Closing out the revue rests on the Prowl-founder and unearthly record-digger au4r33y. The queen bee of cross-pollinating, genre-transversing wax arrangements is a staple in the underground. In a short space of time, her warehouse bills have quickly evolved into hot-tickets, hosting local and international artists of all domains but a singular genus. At the same time, she’s built a broad family of admirers for her top-class selections - regularly slaying Sevs and supporting acts like Francesco Del Garda, Jane Fitz, Kenji Takimi, Dr Banana and Physical Therapy. The power hours in the twilight zone for SHELLCODE will be reserved for her innumerable, unorthodox and anti-taxonomic stylings.

Rounding out the bill we have the live debut of live duo Bluering, back-to-butt stretches from Orla & Bats and Transit’s Skriv and Crazy Pig, and sets from Loaf, and Cloud 909’s Jessie Belters, TOBLERON3 & El Discotheque.
