Fri, 1 Aug, 10:30am - 12pm AEST

Event description

Please join us at our first crayweed community planting of the season!

WHAT: A talk by Operation Crayweed scientists on the shoreline at Shelly Beach, and a hands-on session measuring and sexing crayweed (yes, you will learn how to tell male and female crayweed apart!), right before they get planted nearby by our scuba divers.

WHERE: Coordinates: -33.800600, 151.298114. Park at the car park at the end of Bower St (paid parking), along Bower St or walk over, and meet us on the Beach. Try to spot people in black t-shirts with a golden crayweed on the front.

WHEN: Friday, 1st of August. This event is WEATHER DEPENDENT. It might be cancelled if conditions aren't good. Please register for the event with an email address you regularly check, as we will announce whether the event is postponed. Our Plan B is the following Friday (August 8th), at the same place and time.

WHO: All welcome! We have capped the event due to limited staffing capacity, so please RSVP.

WHAT TO BRING: There is not a lot of shade at this site. Please wear a hat and sun protection, and water/snacks. There is a cafe nearby and public toilets. Please bring gardening/working gloves if you want to handle the crayweed. We will be on the sand, so please wear appropriate footwear. Handling crayweed may stain your clothes, so it's best to wear dark or work clothes.

For any questions: please email operation.crayweed@unsw.edu.au or claudia.santori@unsw.edu.au
