Welcome to Shibari 101: First Frictions

This 90-minute experience is for those wanting to experience the sensuality of rope play.

Let us introduce you to the intimacy of traditional Japanese rope bondage. The art of Kinbaku – sometimes referred to as Shibari – is built around an exchange between two people: someone tying and someone being bound. Our expert riggers will give you step by step instructions which build upon your first ties to create your first friction patterns – with an emphasis on developing safe rope practices. During this experience you will begin by practicing on yourself before moving on to tying with others.

Workshop includes: Introduction to rope and rope safety, first ties including Futomomos, frictions, and harnesses.

Assumed Knowledge: Week 1: First ties

DOUBLE WORKSHOP DEAL: Get a discount for booking in for both Week 1: First ties, and Week 2: First frictions.

Workshop Kit Requirements

Demonstrator:

ArdentDesires (she/her) has been active in the Newcastle kink scene for over 4 years, getting her start into shibari/kinbaku through Hunter Rope Explore & Exchange (RXX). Her passion for rope play is inspired by musical pieces such as Adagio for Strings by Samual Barber where movements are slow, deliberate and purposeful to create a specific emotional experience. She greatly enjoys sharing her knowledge about this Japanese art style and looks forward to introducing new people to the dynamics of rope play.
