Shibari 101 - Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice
Description
Curious about Shibari?
Made a new years resolution to try something new? Or been looking for a new activity to explore with your partner, a fun hobby to learn with a friend or an avenue for self-connection? Shibari is what you've been looking for!
Originating from Japanese culture, Shibari uses rope as an artistic medium to create beautiful harnesses, connection and intimacy. Whether you want to use it to spice up your love life, create decorative art, to meditate or as a physical outlet, the first step remains the same.
Join me for my intro to rope class where we'll cover safety, foundational knots, beginner harnesses and different ways to use Shibari. That's everything you need to know to go home and get started with your rope journey!
No shoes or food is allowed on the studio floor, so please refrain from eating until the break in the middle of the class and bring socks if you tend to get cold.

FAQs
- Do I need to bring my own ropes?
If you have your own ropes, bring your own. If you don't have your own there will be rope you can borrow for the duration of the class. Please note the rope available to borrow has been used by others before you and treated with a mixture of beeswax and jojoba oil. If you have allergies to these products they won't be a good fit for you to use.
- What should I wear?
It's best to wear clothes that are comfortable for you to move around in, aren't oversized and don't have tassels, bows or laces. These things make it harder to tie on so gym gear, athleisure or a well fitted t-shirt/tank top with bike shorts or leggings are a safe bet.
- Can I come alone or do I have to come in a pair?
This class can be attended solo or in a pair. The practical aspects of the class (learning knots and ties) can be self-tied, however this can require more mobility than tying someone else. While there are multiple options to make self-tying accessible, if you have concerns about this please contact the host prior.
- What do I need to bring?
Other than ropes (if you have your own), please bring a water bottle, something to take notes with and be mindful that no shoes are allowed on the studio floor, so wear socks if you get cold easily!
