ShireABILITY Film Festival 2025
Event description
Sutherland Shire Council is proud to present the 2025 ShireABILITY Film Festival in celebration of the International Day of People with Disability. This free community event will be held on Saturday 6th December at Kirrawee Library +, showcasing the power of storytelling and the importance of inclusive representation in film.
The festival will feature two screening sessions, each presenting four short films that have a strong connection to the Shire and are produced, directed, or performed by people with disability.

You can choose to attend a screening on its own or a screening and the panel session. Lunch will be available at 1:15pm, please let us know if you intend to have lunch with us at checkout!

11:00 AM – Welcome to Country and Opening Remarks by the Mayor
11:15 AM – First Screening - Designed with space to move around, food, drink, sensory toys all allowed!

Community Support
The event is proudly supported by Sylvanvale and Civic, two Registered NDIS providers with deep roots in the Sutherland Shire. Both organisations have long championed inclusion, independence, and community connection for people with disability.
The films are proudly delivered by Bus Stop Films, a pioneering organisation committed to creating accessible filmmaking opportunities and promoting diverse representation in media.
How to get there
Entry
Kirrawee Library+ is located in South Village, with entrance at number 6 Kiln Rd. There are drop off zones available at Kiln Rd directly outside the library and Village Rd a short walk across the street.
Parking
Access to South Village Underground Carpark is available from the Princes Highway, Oak Road or Flora Street. Parking is free for up to three hours. For more information, please visit Parking | South Village
