Kamp Kraken Presents: Shit You Should Know 2025
Event description
Short talks, long tail knowledge. Quick bursts from people who've spent too much time thinking about something the rest of us barely know exists. Failed experiments, field notes from fringe communities, hidden histories, half-forgotten technologies, niche life hacks that might just change yours. Each talk is a pocket universe. Blink and you miss it.
All proceeds go towards getting the KSub to Underland.
This night exists for intellectual contraband. For side projects, subcultural obsessions, and back-of-lab curios that make a brain worth raiding. You walk in carrying a working model of the world. You leave with holes drilled in it, fresh pathways, new people to argue with, and references to chase for months.
Who shows up: researchers off the clock, scene kids with archives, bio people with jars, policy wonks with graphs, music heads who can map 40 microgenres, climate nerds, code artists, festival builders, amateur historians, curiosity maximalists, the merely nosy. Bring a friend who complains about small talk. Bring your Mum if she likes good stories and loud rooms.
Why is it cool: velocity plus variety. Every 7 minutes the room resets. Tone swings from academic to absurd. You get the density of a graduate seminar and the chaos energy of a late-night campfire. No panels. No filibusters. Just signal flares from other people’s mental basements. Fundraising makes it functional. Shared attention makes it communal. Surprise makes it memorable.
Talk slate in progress; wildcards pulled from the wider Kamp Kraken orbit. Final programme announced closer to the night, and slots reserved for wildcards.
