About your teacher Ian Van Der Wolde
With over 40 years behind the lens, Ian Van Der Wolde isn’t just a master photographer — he’s one of Australia’s most respected photography educators. He’s worked with major brands, taught thousands of students, and knows how to make even the most complex camera concepts feel simple.
Ian holds the title of Master of Photography with 2 Gold Bars and is an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP). He’s also a Profoto Ambassador, Ilford Master Printer, and a certified expert in colour management and printing.
But more than the accolades, Ian is a natural teacher. He knows what it’s like to feel overwhelmed by settings and gear — and he’s brilliant at helping beginners cut through the noise, build confidence, and start creating images they’re genuinely proud of.
