Shooting Star Soiree

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

The Geminid — one of the most prolific meteor showers in the solar system — is back on 14th December 2021.

With our big open spaces and minimal light pollution, Spring Bay Mill is the perfect place to see them light up the sky.

Talks and poetry from multi-talented scientists. A two-course dinner in our award-winning Banksia Room, followed by late-night snacks and drinks served under the (shooting) stars. We’ll have scientists on hand helping guests follow (up to 120!) meteors as they shower through space.

The biggest event on the Astro-tourism calendar.

Welcome to Country by Theresa Sainty – pakana woman and consultant in Aboriginal History, Heritage, Education, Arts and Interpretation.

Richard Grudzien – Night Sky Educator from the Astronomical Society of Tasmania

Pradyumna Kummamuru – Poet and astrophysics student

Dr. Warren Hankey – Astronomer and musician with a special focus on globular clusters and dwarf galaxies.

… and loads of telescope assistants to help you see the shooting stars.

Tickets $20

An optional dinner will be served in our award-winning Banksia Room for $50.
Stay over with us and skip the drive home.
