Shopfront Intensive: Actors Edition

This is a four session commitment where you'll:

• 1/7/26 | 6pm-8:30pm Scenework 101

  Explore the rhythm of dialogue and how it shapes meaning

  Explore silence and stillness

  Play turning points and shifts in action

  Learn how space and visual composition tell a story

  Read allocated scenes
  

• 8/7/26 | 6pm-8:30pm Givens and Objectives

  Examine given circumstances

  Break scenes into “chunks”

  Clarify objectives and playable actions

  Identify obstacles and stakes
  

• 15/7/26 | 6pm-8:30pm

  Apply textwork on the floor

  Apply the Michael Chekhov technique to scene work

  Disrupt habitual line readings
  

• 22/7/26 | 6pm-8:30pm

  Presentation of scenes and receive feedback to adjust scene accordingly

  
  Callan Purcell will be leading the workshops.
  Only 10 positions available.

  We're trialling how participants can contribute to Shopfront in exchange for the four sessions:

     This helps cover the costs of the intensive's facilitators and resources.
