Short Story Writing Course - 8 fortnightly sessions
Event description
Learn the art and craft of short stories over eight fortnightly lessons and assignments. The course covers:
- What is a short story
- The tools of craft
- Ideas and inspiration
- The market for publication and competitions
- Submit assignments and a final story for feedback
Each fortnightly lesson will build your technical capabilities, followed by submission of an assignment to your instructor. Individualised feedback is the most effective way to hone your skills and write a story of publication quality. While attendance in person is best, online options are offered as a back-up.
No previous writing experience is necessary and this course is suitable for people aged fifteen plus. You will need to dedicate several hours per week to reading and preparing assignments.
Craft learned in this course provides graduates with the skills required to progress to other courses, including 'Write Your Novel' and 'Advanced Writing'.
