Shotokan Karate-do International Federation (SKIF) 2025 International Seminar, Tokyo, Japan (28 March - 30 March 2025)

Following the success of the 2024 Seminar, interest from SKI Australia karate-ka has been high to attend this great fixture in the international calendar! Registrations are now open!

Join fellow SKI Australia karate-ka and from the SKIF world for top class international training led by Kancho Nobuaki Kanazawa (SKIF Head of Federation) and Shuseki Shihan Manabu Murakami (SKIF Chief Instructor) and supported by Honbu Dojo Instructors and Karate Masters from around the world.

The stated objective of SKIF in hosting this seminar is:

"To improve and unify the techniques of SKIF members in Japan and overseas while providing the opportunity for members to interact and build friendships."

But that's not all:

SKIF YUDANSHA KAI TRAINING AT HONBU - will host training sessions at SKIF Honbu on Thursday 27 March (SKIF YDK members only and subject to space limitations) NB: To be confirmed; and

AUSTRALIAN DELEGATION DINNER The Australian delegation will have our traditional welcome dinner at Banya Restaurant in Kamata on Friday 28 March. This will include food and at least 2 hour of free flow of drinks (alcoholic and soft drinks); and

- JOINT TRAINING WITH OTA CITY RESIDENTS - Although this seminar is being organised by SKIF, Ota City, Ota City Board of Education, and Ota City Karate Federation once again provide support in, among other things, securing the seminar venue. That is why SKIF also organises a free training session on Saturday 29 March together with karate practitioners residing in Ota City. SKIF encourages all members taking part in the seminar to also participate in this joint training session. Any friends and family karate-ka travelling to Tokyo who are not eligible to train at the seminar can bring their do gi and take the opportunity to train in this session.

- INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR DINNER - Official dinner function for all participants on Saturday 29 March to be held at the Omori Sports Center; and

- CHERRY BLOSSOM VIEWING PARTY (HANAMI) - Monday 31 March from 12:00 – 14:00 (will be cancelled in the event of rain). Along the bank of Tama River (an approx. 10-minute walk from Unoki Station). Meet at 11:30 in front of Unoki Station on the Tokyu-Tamagawa Line. Early April in Tokyo is when the cherry blossoms are usually in bloom. We encourage you to take part in this event, relaxing among the cherry blossoms while enjoying drinks, snacks (BYO) and conversation with your karate friends old and new.

So let's go Tokyo 2025!
