    The SKIA NSW Shotokan Summer Gasshuku

    2-minutes from Berry on the NSW South Coast lies Berry Sport & Recreation Centre. Located in a stunning rural setting with impressive coastal escarpment views, the centre boasts a modern, award-winning recreation hall with wooden sprung floors, a pool, wide open spaces, comfortable updated accommodation and is a fully catered sporting site ideal for our Gasshuku. The centre is 10 min to the beach and the facilities are clustered very close to each other (no long walks between facilities).

    Arrive from 5:30pm (dinner at 6), the 1st session starts at 7pm on Friday 22 November 2024. You can choose to attend the full weekend seminar or, select one day option (Saturday or Sunday - lunch included). Discounts for two or more family members (they must be immediate family - not a distant relative or friend). Training finishes at 3pm on Sunday 24 November 2024 (we must leave the site by 4pm).

    Training

    The training program includes different to normal dojo training, and you get to choose your session/s (equipment/numbers permitting). Learn a non-SKIF kata, experience kata applications & grappling, try weaponry (nunchaku, sword (bokken), knife defence, etc.), learn how to meditate, Improve your foundational karate technique, kumite drills and much, much more. Take your karate to the next level. Don’t wait to the last minute or you might miss out, book now.

    Instructor Line-up

    Your instructors have over 140 years of combined karate experience:

    Zivko Delevski Kyoshi (8th Dan, 5-times Australian rep at SKIF World Champs winning silver in Men's Kata and bronze in Men's Kumite plus multiple times Australian men's National Kata, Kumite and Team Kata Champion & experienced SKIF International Referee);

    Dr Hovik Keshishihan Sensei (7th Dan, double PhD: Human Movement & Exercise & Sports Science, bronze medallist team kata at WUKO Asian Pacific All Styles);

    Josie Ngan Sensei (5th Dan, NSW Technical & Development Rep, NCAS Coach, 3-times SKIF World Champs medallist & 2-times WKF medallist & multiple times SKIA National Champion).

    David Rush Sensei (5th Dan, 3-time SKIF World Championships medallist & 6-time (SKIA, AKF & NAS) National Champion, Australian Sports Commission Community Coach, SKIF Yundansha-Kai member, Fitness Instructor & SKIF International Referee).

    What to Bring

    You will need your own (single) bed linen, pillow, towel, swimmers, sports clothes, running shoes & karate-gi/s.

    This karate camp would make an excellent early Christmas present or gift for the budding karate student or black belt. Registrations must be completed before 10 November. Book early to avoid disappointment as places are limited. No extensions or late registrations will be accepted. Be quick and book now.

    Tickets for the full weekend gasshuku includes all training sessions, dormitory-style accommodation and all meals from dinner Friday evening to lunch on Sunday.

    Day pass tickets (for either Saturday or Sunday only) are available and include all training sessions and lunch for the selected day.

    Attendees are required to complete a registration form for the Berry Sport and Recreation Centre at the time of your booking, look out for this link in your confirmation email!
