Event description

Show and Tell: School Items Swap and Share Programs

Victorian schools are leading the way working towards circularity by organising activities such as a stationery drive to donate products, a bicycle repair workshop, and a second-hand uniform online shop.

In this Show and Tell we’ll hear from:

  • Albion Primary School and their Recycle Shop – a swap program for the school community that includes books, clothes and toys
  • Overnewton Anglican Community College and their Party Kit – a borrowing program that's part of the Party Kit Network, offering school families and the wider community reusable items for hosting parties without relying on single-use plastics.

Join Marita Ryan, Albion Primary School’s Physical Education and Sustainability leader and Stephanie Mitten, Coordinator of Overnewton Anglican Community College's Parent Sustainability Group to learn about:

  • The Recycle Shop – including details on its implementation through tokens and how it transitioned from a stand-alone event to a biannual mini-store run by students, parents, and teachers.
  • The Party Kit initiative, including details on how it's managed and its benefits.
  • Albion Primary Schools and Overnewton Anglican Community College's wins and challenges fostering sustainable practices.
