sideway // Ryland Newstead & The MCGs' LAST SHOW EVER w/ Napoleon Ice Cream & Absent Ace Tone
Event description
In the end it wasn’t the fame, but the lawyers. Ryland Newstead & The MCGs, strong off the success of their European and North American 2023 stadium tour, once again find themselves in court, suing one another over the Spotify royalties from their debut live EP (The Live At The Polo Live EP). Communicating only through solicitors, the band have agreed to ONE LAST FINAL SHOW before the band splits up for the foreseeable future. Come see what once was Canberra’s greatest pop/rock/pop/alt/punk/pop five piece reel out the old hits and try and sell off their excess merch.Â
Napoleon Ice Cream are four Aussie Asian nerds who should be home studying. Instead they’re turning their personal lives and dramatic parental stereotypes into catchy hooks and experimental indie-rock grooves. Described as one of Canberra’s most unique bands, they don’t let convention stand in their way. With a drummer/singer leading the charge, they’re blending western post-pop with eastern rock traditions to end up where centre stage is a shared space between all musicians.
Absent Ace Tone like their funk punky and their rock operas short but emotional. Complete with unusual tales of good-hearted vigilantes, love in airports and celestial phenomena they’ll get you smiling and dancing!
