Event description

Join us for a screening of three short screen works produced within academic contexts in recent years, followed by a filmmaker Q &A. We look forward to a discussion on the knowledge and understanding that screen productions can foster through their making and/or screening, considering impacts for a broad range of stakeholders.

The three films to be screened are:

  • Bird Sounds (2022, dir. Ross Williams)
  • Interview with a Sand Dune (2023, dir. Catherine Gough-Brady)
  • The Soft-Skinned (2021, dir. Nicky Tyndale-Biscoe)

This screening is preceded by the launch of a new book, Constructions of the Real (2023), as well as drinks and nibbles in the Mercury Cinema foyer.

5.30pm: drinks and nibbles in the Mercury Foyer

6pm: book launch: Constructions of the Real (2023)

7pm: film screening in the Mercury Cinema followed by a filmmaker Q & A

NOTE: This event is free for ASPERA/Sightlines 3 day conference pass holders or a single day ticket for Sightlines on Thursday 29th June.
