Silence & Women’s Equality - a panel discussion with diverse leaders and scholars

Join powerful diverse women of WA, Senator Fatima Payman, Palestinian Scholar Sameha Olwan, and human rights activist and writer Sisonke Msimang on a panel discussion to explore the role of silence on women’s equality, with a focus on intersectionality in the current moment.
 

The panel will be moderated by Australian-Palestinian Union Organiser Rania Samawi against the backdrop of the ‘1948: Palestine in Pictures Exhibition' at PS Art Space, in Fremantle.

Proudly hosted by the large and growing group of WA artists, writers and creatives from Creatives for Palestine WA.

Guests are encouraged to view the exhibition before and after the panel discussion. Light refreshments provided,

More about the Panellists:

Senator Fatima Payman: The first youngest female in the Australian Senate to wear a hijab, Senator Payman is a member of the Albanese Labor Government, and has held important Parliamentary positions. She was born in Afghanistan.

Samiha Olwan, Palestinian Scholar: is an activist, columnist, and scholar in Literature and Gender Studies. During her years of research in Palestine and Australia, Samiha has also lectured and tutored across a wide range of topics in literary and cultural theory, academic and creative writing, social and environmental justice.

Sisonke Msimang, Writer: is a political analyst, columnist, storyteller, author, and leader with special interest in social justice and feminism. She has published two books: Always Another Country: A memoir of exile and home (2017) and The Resurrection of Winnie Mandela (2018).
