We’re bringing together our colleagues, friends and wider community for an evening at the cinema, and everyone is welcome. Come along on your own, bring a friend, partner or colleague, and join us for a special evening together.
By joining us, you’ll not only be part of an important conversation, but also help raise funds to bring Birchtree Foundation’s Empowered Self-Defence program to students at Narrandera High School. About the film
Silenced is a powerful documentary from director Selina Miles that follows international human rights lawyer Jennifer Robinson and her fight for survivors of gender-based violence to be able to tell their stories. The film goes behind the headlines and into the courtroom to explore how defamation laws can be used to silence survivors and the journalists who report their experiences.
For Birchtree Foundation, the conversations at the heart of Silenced resonate deeply with our work. Birchtree exists to support healing and empowerment following trauma and violence, while contributing to safer communities through education, research, advocacy and community action.
This special screening is an opportunity to bring our community together to engage with these conversations beyond the screen. Following the film, our panel will explore its themes and create space for reflection, discussion and connection.
*Your ticket includes the film screening, followed by a panel discussion bringing together a thoughtfully selected group of speakers to reflect on the film and the conversations it raises.
