Silk Glow: Create your own Wet-Felted Lamp

Create your own glowing artwork using fine merino wool, handmade silk papers and lustrous silk fibres.

In this relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop, you will use wet-felting techniques to create a translucent decorative covering for a supplied electric table lamp. When illuminated, the colours and delicate fibre textures are brought beautifully to life.

The featured jellyfish lamp is one creative possibility. You may take inspiration from marine life, tropical botanicals or organic forms, explore an abstract design, or simply follow the colours and materials that appeal to you.

You will learn how to lay fine layers of merino wool, incorporate silk-paper shapes and decorative fibres, and felt the layers together to create a strong and beautifully textured finish. Clear demonstrations and individual guidance will be provided throughout the workshop.

All wool, silk materials, felting equipment, electric table lamp and bulb are included. You will take home your own unique handcrafted lamp.

No previous felting or artistic experience is required. Suitable for adults and young people aged 16 years and over.
