Simon Armitage is appearing at the University of Sydney as a guest of the Creative Writing Program and Red Room Poetry Month. Simon will be in-conversation with Sydney poet Felicity Plunkett.
Simon Armitage is the UK Poet Laureate (2019-2029) and Professor of Poetry at the University of Leeds. He was formerly elected to serve as Professor of Poetry at the University of Oxford for 2015-2019. He has received numerous awards for his poetry, song-writing, radio and television work, and is the author of the bestselling non-fiction works All Points North, Walking Home and Walking Away. Felicity Plunkett is a poet, critic and editor living on Wangal land. She is the author of A Kinder Sea (UQP), Vanishing Point (UQP) and the chapbook Seastrands (Vagabond). She edited Thirty Australian Poets (UQP). She is a widely-published essayist and critic and finalist in the 2024 Walkley’s Pascall Prize for Cultural Criticism.
