Event description

Music for a Warming World is launching a new album ... finally!

Come and help us celebrate!

Having performed their Multimedia Show dozens of times over the last 6 years, from the Woodford Folk Festival in Queensland to the Moonah Arts Centre in Tasmania, they have now recorded a whole batch of new music focused on the environment and climate crises, and what they mean for us humans and for the other beings with whom we share this beautiful planet.

This show uses high quality large scale immersive video/images along with the original music of New Zealand songwriter and guitarist Simon Kerr (now Melbourne based), to tell some stores of our future.

The music on the album ranges from neo-folk to alt-rock, from reggae to country and is arranged and performed by Simon, violinist Kylie Morrigan, multi-instrumentalist Mal Webb and a range of other top musicians from Australia, Canada and Switzerland.

'Musically virtuosic, entertaining and thought provoking'
(Peter Lino, Tintenbar Live, Northern NSW)

'Their songs and images open our hearts to the tragedy of destruction of our common home, and call us to do more and better
'
(Prof Ross Garnaut, AC, Vice Chancellors Fellow, University of Melbourne, Author of the Garnaut Climate Change Review for the Australian Government in 2008)

'The buzz from participants after the event was electric and many people said that, had they known what they were in for, they would have spread the message far and wide'
(Tejinder Gill, Events Coordinator, Willoughby City Council, Sydney)

'Breathtaking images that underscored the music which was glorious in its own right. ...They demonstrate how art, science and music can converge to promote and provoke new thinking. A memorable performance on every level' (Leah and Charles Justin, Justin Art House Museum, Melbourne)

'Intelligent, thought provoking and entertaining, a wonderfully crafted show'
(Michael Stewart, Festival Director, Newport Folk Festival)

'Music for a Warming World’ is an eclectic mix of music, science and some inspired thinking around the human condition ... (May they) survive and thrive to continue to help build the resilience and vision that we need to get through this unholy mess'
(Peter Boyer, OAM, is a Hobart based science journalist)
