EoLDUK members only

Whether you're a confident singer or not, your voice in song can bring its own unique gifts to the people you support. For over twelve years, Companion Voices has been gathering songs and techniques to prepare people to sing to those approaching the end of life. This online session is led by Founder and Director Judith Silver, who'll bring that experience, along with practical tools you can use in your everyday life and doula practice.

What will I learn?

During this session you will:

·                     Explore simple physical techniques to warm up and settle your voice

·                     Learn how to use your voice to bring comfort, to the person you're supporting, to anyone else in the room, and to yourself

·                     Sing a song or two from our tried and tested end-of-life repertoire

·                     Experience how it feels to be sung to with compassion and loving presence

·                     Develop the skills to recognise the moment when singing might be the right next step, and build your confidence to offer it, exploring the path beyond self-consciousness

We'll use our voices throughout, sometimes together and sometimes just listening. There’s no pressure to sing alone, and you can take part in whatever way feels comfortable.
