Central Marin Singers Drop-In Choir -- Fall '23 Season

Event description

*** Note: December 13 is cancelled; Thank you to the 80+ singers who sang with us this season, stay tuned for news about our Winter Season! ***

This season we'll be learning and singing many juicy songs in our drop-in choir: a few that take a little longer to learn and allow us to delve deeper into harmonies and layers, as well as a big selection from the many wonderful songs I carry that can be learned very quickly -- with multi-part harmonies, layers (verses that interlock beautifully when sung at the same time by different sections of the choir), rounds, and unison songs, too. Plus Community Time each night, where *you* can lead a song if you talk with me in advance, or you can request a specific song, or you can ask me to come up with a song to teach that is good medicine for a specific emotion or experience, like joy, gratitude, grief, shame, connection, empowerment, hope, whatever!

I teach all these easy-to-learn, non-religious, community-singing songs by ear, line-by-line -- you don't need any singing experience, there's no music to read, no need to practice songs between evenings, all voices and levels welcome, and you never have to have attended any previous evening. Songs are selected for their ability to rejuvenate, soothe, uplift and inspire!

And, as always, extra-special evenings, too! Like our Songs For Showing Up evening on 11/8 in partnership with SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice) Marin, where we'll be learning songs that help us show up as allies and activists in our community by resourcing and grounding us, by gently shifting any internal obstacles, and by uplifting us with hope!

Songs For Showing Up -- Weds Nov 9, 7pm

...and amazing Guest Songleaders joining me, too, like Te Martin on 11/15:

We'll also continue to take our singing out into the community, forming a pop-up choir at occasional public events, like farmers' markets, where our purpose isn't performance, it's having fun, community participation and community-building: we invite passers-by to step into our circle, learn songs, and sing with us! Kinda like a musical flashmob! (The next pop-up is Saturday, November 18, 10:30-11:30am at the Marin Country Mart (Larkspur Landing), free of charge to all.)

We're in the same huge Duncan Hall multi-purpose space at the church each Wednesday evening 10/25-12/13 (note: no singing 11/22); capacity is limited; we'll have some open windows and doors and fan(s) for airflow but enough closed for the strong heating system to keep us warm; tickets are available onsite (cash, credit card, Venmo, PayPal) unless/until we're sold out. And if the date you want is sold out, getting on the waitlist is free of charge, and if ticketholders let me know they can't come, you could get in!

Our COVID policy is required reading before you attend. For more info, including all the songs we've sung (with links), quotes from people who sang with us during our previous seasons, and video clips of us singing together: centralmarinsingers.com

We have many new singers with us every week! It's so easy to drop in, learn each song with us, and sing. Come to one evening, some, or all! And if finances are a challenge for you at the moment, fee reductions are available, contact me for details.

All voices are welcome (including kids') -- Your voice is needed!

Feel free to email or call with questions -- I hope to sing with you soon!

Warmly,

Marv Zauderer
