SIRF OERt Workshop |BlueScope Digital Transformation Journey
Event description
BlueScope Digital Transformation Journey
Organisations are increasingly focused on the integration of digital technology into all areas of their business with an aim to fundamentally change how they operate and deliver value to customers. Manufacturing is no exception. The digital transformation like all major organisational changes requires a cultural change , continually challenging the status quo, with the need for experimentation and some comfort with the potential for failure and the opportunity to learn from these to gain the many genuine benefits on offer.
In this SIRF workshop, Colin Robertson, Bluescope Digital Transformation Manager – Asset Management , will share the Bluescope Digital Transformation Journey , specifically highlighting their experience at their BlueScope Port Kembla facility.
Every day, the BlueScope people are transforming their global BlueScope business through various digital technologies, enhancing collaboration, sustainability, safety and efficiency at work. BlueScope will share their over arching approach with both top-down and shop-floor grassroots programs to deliver success in a large and diverse company. It will be an opportunity to learn from the BlueScope many successes and learn from their lessons along the way.
One such example is the use of mixed reality tools such as the Microsoft HoloLens at BlueScope Port Kembla, Australia. BlueScope use the HoloLens to create augmented training material, which can be used and adapted to be fit-for-purpose by on-site employees in real time. Their trial of the HoloLens Guides program among new employees garnered impressive results and has the potential to revolutionise training at BlueScope manufacturing sites , altogether offering better visual aids, reducing the number of process errors and improving productivity.
In this workshop , we will have a chance to share and discuss the many other manufacturing digital applications in areas such as communications, artificial intelligence, data capture analysis, Internet of Things, automation and networking.
This workshop will also have an opportunity to discuss with others on the digital transformation with like minded others in attendance and share elements that are working, hurdles overcome for all to learn.
