    Event description

The Sisterhood Series is exclusively for students in Years 10 - 12 and offers the chance to hear from inspirational alumni guest speakers.

The series runs over recess every Wednesday during Terms 2 and 3 in the Santa Maria College Boardroom in the McAuley Building.

We are excited to welcome Madeleine Hammond (Class of 2018) as our guest speaker for the sixth session of the Sisterhood Series in Term 3.

Madeleine embarked on her academic journey at the University of Western Australia (Conservatorium of Music) from 2019 to July 2023, where she earned a Bachelor of Music Honours in Music Specialist Studies with a double major in Music Studies and Composition. In July 2023, she began her pursuit of a Masters of Teaching (Secondary Education) at the University of Notre Dame, specialising in Music and minoring in English.

Professionally, Madeleine has served as the Chorale Director at Freshwater Bay Primary School in Claremont since 2021. She has also worked as a Crescendo Teaching Artist with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and currently tutors trumpet with the Department of Education’s Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS). Additionally, she is a freelance music composer, program note writer, and private English tutor.

Her achievements include being a finalist in the Australian Women’s Wind Band Composition Award for her piece "Walking on Sun Glinted Clouds," which will be performed by the Queensland Wind Orchestra in October 2024. The UWA Conservatorium of Music’s Wind Orchestra will perform her piece "Breath" in 2024. She has also been commissioned by the University of Western Australia’s Music Students Society and Perth’s Tender is the Night initiative.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from Madeleine and gain valuable insights into the worlds of music and education.

Spaces are limited to 15 students per session, and registrations are essential - don't miss out on this valuable experience!

    Morning tea will be provided.
