This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

This special event is a collaboration between Blue Dragon Children's Foundation and 'The Human, Earth Project', and has been made possible by the generosity of Fairfield RSL Club.

Having won awards for exceptional filmmaking and courageous storytelling at film festivals around the world, 'Sisters for Sale' is coming to Fairfield for the very first time. The events of 'Sisters for Sale' took place in close consultation with Blue Dragon's founder Michael Brosowski, who also features in the film.

Young women on the border between Vietnam and China find themselves caught between a violent custom and a vicious criminal underworld. Investigating the mysterious disappearances of his local friends, an Australian filmmaker uncovers a human trafficking crisis and sparks an incredible series of events. Betrayed, stolen, and sold into forced marriages with strange men, two teenage friends are forced to make the heartbreaking choice between their baby girls and their own freedom.

The screening will be held at Fairfield RSL Club in the Sapphire Ballroom. Doors will open at 6pm and finger food will be provided. The 90min screening will begin at 6.30pm, and will be followed by a Q&A with the film's director and counter-trafficking activist Ben Randall, and with Kim Miller of Blue Dragon, an anti-trafficking organisation that has rescued over 1,000 people from slavery. 15% of ticket prices will be donated to Blue Dragon.

The incredible 'Sisters for Sale' book series can be purchased at specially discounted prices for collection at the event. All sales help fund the fight against human trafficking and Ben will be signing books after the screening.
