We are excited to show you around and share the learnings in this challenging and complex project.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

Hear from the project team as they take you around The Living Pa redevelopment for Victoria University Wellington. This project proposes a new three-storey innovation hub at Te Herenga Waka Marae, Victoria University of Wellington. As an extension of the marae, and joining the wharenui, - Te Tumu Herenga Waka – the Living Pā, will be a place where many people can come together to explore how we can build a more just, and sustainable world. The Living Pā is striving to achieve full Living Building Challenge certification. This is a building system intended to push our understanding of green buildings and to transform how we think about buildings in the future.

This will be Aotearoa’s most sustainable educational facility. This project has been developed as a living lab for Māori studies. This structure is designed to be fully self-resilient from decentralised infrastructure; rainwater harvesting provides all water required on-site, all grey & black water is processed on site via the Membrane Bioreactor water treatment system & all power will be solar generated. The Living Pā redevelopment proposes to meet the Living Building Challenge (LBC) Program. The project will be a demonstration of how we should be building for the future and will provide us with many lessons that we can apply to all of our projects as we work towards a low carbon future.
