The Keeper Project - Artist Portraits with Simone Gillam

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Using a variety of art mediums, local artist Simone Gillam is inviting women of all ages from diverse backgrounds to sit for their portrait and to share their experiences of living or holidaying in Coolum Beach. The portrait sittings take 45 minutes each and will be held at the Arts Rotunda in Tickle Park, Coolum Beach. Simone is part of The Keeper Project - a live public art project where artists work in a temporary role as observer, collector, maker and storyteller within a community. Simone’s project pays particular attention to society’s expectations about beauty and aging in this Sunshine Coast seaside community.  Simone will aim to capture the unique character of participants and their pearls of wisdom about self-assurance and liberation in aging. Upon completion, participants will get to keep their portrait and be invited to come together at a later date and meet other sitters. The Keeper Project is run in conjunction with Sunshine Coast Council, Field Theory, The Queensland Government and Red Chair.
