Event description

Join local artist Josephine Josephsen in this limited capacity sketching class for tips and inspiration on how to continue filling your sketchbook. This event is one part of The Coal Loader Sketchbook Challenge.

What is The Coal Loader Sketchbook Challenge?

Join like-minded amateurs in sketching The Coal Loader over this 2-month challenge. We will supply expert guidance from local artists, you supply the time and unique take on what you see and feel about the space.

There are a total of 8 artist-led classes, you are welcome to come along to as many or as few as you like. All we ask is that if you book a space at one of these limited capacity classes, you respect the artist's time and make sure that you can attend. You can still participate in the challenge if you come along to no official classes at all... it is the actual sketching that counts!

All you need to take part is a concertina/accordion sketchbook and some time to sketch.

The challenge is open to all abilities- there is no wrong way to complete your sketchbook!

All participants are invited to join and post in the official Facebook group.

If posting works on your own Instagram page please use the hashtag: #CoalLoaderArt

All registered participants will be invited to exhibit at The Coal Loader from Monday, 26 July to Sunday, 1 August.

What should I bring?

Please pack lightly with just a small number of your favourite materials such as pencils or charcoal, ink or gouache etc. The entirety of what you bring along should fit into a small shopping bag MAX, but if you only bring one pencil or pen that is fine. You certainly don't need anything fancy, expensive or new, just what you may already have to hand.

Please bring a charged smartphone to check into the NSW COVID-safe app and to take some reference material photos.

To help keep the event low-waste we do not require you to bring a printed ticket as your name will be checked off digitally and to think about what materials you choose to bring use and their impact on the environment.

This is a COVID-safe event.
