Sketching character and place
Armadale Public Library
Armadale WA, Australia
Event description
Regardless of genre, a writer’s ability to sketch a character or a setting in as few words as possible, using spare detail to suggest both a character’s inner life or a strong sense of place, is vital.
This session will demonstrate and workshop techniques to illustrate the capable writer’s ability to make descriptive writing do more than one thing at a time - to represent character and place, but also to create atmosphere, suspense, and hint at story development.
This workshop is presented by David Whish-Wilson, author of eleven novels and three creative non-fiction books.
This session is for adults.
