Route: TOOWOOMBA - BALLANDEAN | JULY 12, 2026
Do you have a car? Do you have an "ugly" Christmas sweater that would make a reindeer blush? Do you have a burning desire to prove that you know more about Queensland geography than your friends?
If you said “Ho Ho HO!” then grab your tinsel and warm up the engine. We’re heading south for a winter odyssey for a great cause!
Forget the North Pole; we’re taking on the Great Southern Downs. This isn’t a race of speed—it’s a race of spirit, strategy, and shivering! We’re navigating from the heights of Toowoomba to the festive finish rolling into Stanthorpe for a mandatory reindeer meeting at the Granite Belt Christmas Farm, before crossing the finish line at Balancing Heart Vineyard in Ballandean.
All this madness is for one incredible reason: raising vital funds for Hope Horizons, ensuring our community stays supported and strong all year round. To achieve this we encourage each participant to raise a minimum of $100 (separate to your registration fee) - every cent going to Hope Horizons. You will receive information in your confirmation email about how to do this!

Finish: A celebratory lunch at Balancing Heart Vineyard, Ballandean.
Dress Code: Christmas Couture (The more ridiculous, the better).

FAQs
- Is this a race? Am I going to be the next Lightning McQueen?
Slow your sleigh, Rudolf! This is a Road Rally, not a speed trial. Points are awarded for trivia, selfies, and how much tinsel you can attach to your car without it becoming a hazard to aviation. In fact, speeding will land you firmly on the Naughty List (and might get you a real-life ticket from the highway patrol).
- Do I need a 4WD or a monster truck?
Nope! As long as your vehicle is road-legal you’re good to go. Whether it’s a vintage classic, a family SUV, or a hatchback covered in bells, all "sleighs" are welcome.
- What if the weather is "frightful"?
In the words of a famous snowman: “The cold never bothered us anyway.” If it’s raining, it’s just "liquid snow." If it’s freezing, it’s just "authentic atmosphere." Just bring an umbrella and a very thick coat!
- How many elves can I fit in my car?
As many as you have legal seatbelts for! We recommend a team of 2–4 per car: one to drive, one to navigate (and argue with the GPS), and two in the back to manage the snacks and the "Jingle Bell Rock" choreography.
- Do I really have to wear an ugly Christmas sweater?
You don’t have to... but do you really want to be the only Grinch in the room? Plus, there are prizes on the line for the best (worst) festive fashion. If you don't have a sweater, a Santa hat or some tinsel-scarves are a great backup.
- What happens at the finish line?
We’ll be converging at the beautiful Balancing Heart Winery in Ballandean. There will be food, award presentations, raffles, auctions and perhaps a well-earned wine over lunch. (Drinks not included in registration fee) It’s the perfect place to defrost and brag about your trivia scores.
- Where is my fundraising money going?
Every cent raised goes to Hope Horizon, helping us provide specific allied services to help diminish the impact of cancer for our community at no out of pocket cost. You’re driving for a purpose!
- What if I get lost?
Don’t worry, your Navigator's Pack includes a list of towns and stops. If all else fails, look for the car covered in reindeer antlers and follow them! (Or, you know, use Google Maps).
