Slow Art Collective - Takenoko Weave House Workshop 4 (ages 4-7)
Event description
Takenoko Weave House Workshop (ages 4-7)
Saturday 5 October, 10.30am - 12.00pm
Join Slow Art Collective in creating the Takenoko Weave House, an ever-changing art installation, designed for collaborative weaving and music-making.
Crafted from simple, sustainable materials including bamboo and recycled yarn, the pavilion is an interactive artwork you can help create. 'Takenoko' translates to 'a bamboo shoot' in Japanese, while also holding connotations of young children, full of energy. The Takenoko Weave House will be a vibrant space where friends and strangers will get together and take part in an evolving world of colour, pattern and sound.
In these interactive workshops you'll learn creative weaving techniques like tying, finger knitting, macrame and knot-tying, plus learn how to make your very own structure out of skewers and small dowel. The workshops will end with a communal music-making session; using improvised instruments you’ll bring the Takenoko Weave House to life.
