Small Space Gardening
Event description
Not everyone has an 11-acre farm to grow their own veggies, fruit and herbs. The good news is, whether you have a large plot of land, a small backyard, a courtyard or a balcony, it is possible to create a productive and abundant organic growing space!

Come along to learn:
- What plants need to survive and thrive
- How to create and maintain healthy soils
- Compost and worm farming
- Propagating plants from seed and cuttings
- Garden beds and structures in the garden
- Companion plants
- Diversity in the garden
Included:
- Plants grown from seeds and cuttings

About the facilitator:
Narelle Happ is a garden designer and horticulturalist who specialises in native garden and permaculture design.
She has over 15 years of experience and is passionate about creating ‘living’ spaces which are nurturing, productive and sustainable.
Garden styles range from natural bushland, rainforest, cottage or formal. Permaculture designs include garden layouts for food production and sustainability. Designs that extend to engage and educate communities and schools by creating kitchen gardens and living classrooms.
Before you book, please consider:
- The site is a working farm and visitors must participate in a safety briefing before the workshop.
- The terrain at the farm is particularly steep and slippery in parts. Though the workshop will take place primarily within our accessible education space, there is a possibility that participants will be required to walk across uneven or sloping ground. If you have mobility restrictions or any concerns about your ability to navigate the terrain, please contact us before booking.
- Plants love rain and so do we! We don’t cancel workshops in wet weather unless there is a dangerous storm. Please come prepared for the weather.
- Allergen advice: Our farm is home to domestic animals as well as bees, wasps, and macadamia trees. Please pack an EpiPen if allergic and keep it with you while on site.
All workshop participants must:
- Wear enclosed shoes or boots (no thongs or sandals) and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Long pants are recommended.
- Bring a hat and sunscreen or rain gear, depending on the weather forecast.
- Bring a pen/pencil and paper if you wish to take notes.
