Small Town Romance + Patrick Wilson at Franks Wild Years
Event description
Melbourne duo Small Town Romance play Frank's Wild Years on October 19 with Patrick Wilson as part of their Home Fires album tour.
Home Fires is the long awaited second record from Small Town Romance. A rich and ambitious collection of songs bursting with life and finely attuned insights. At times confessional, and at others observational, with the kind of closely observed portraits you’d expect from writers like Guy Clark or Don Walker. It’s twang forward, but knows how to swing and when to take it down a notch.Â
Flora Smith and Jim Arneman are Small Town Romance. With a knack for a story, an uncanny ear for melody and an innate poeticism, Small Town Romance blend folk, country and roots influences to create a sound that is uniquely their own. Small Town Romance know their way around a classic country song but like make no apologies for speaking in an Australian voice.
With two CMAA golden guitar nominations, a Music Victoria nomination and a slew of high-profile festivals and supports already under their belt, STR are proudly carrying on the incredible musical legacy of Jim’s mother Anne Kirkpatrick and grandparents Slim Dusty and Joy McKean.
Patrick WIlson is a natural-born storyteller with an astonishing voice that can go from tender to playful to furious in a matter of seconds. “Patrick Wilson is a twang assassin. Beneath his polite, disarming and charming exterior he is a multi-faceted musical ninja, capable of cutting through your heart-strings with a single turn of phrase or a twist of melodic flare." - Henry Wagons
