Small Plates Choreography Festival

Event description

Small Plates Choreography Festival is a dance performance series elevating the art of dance by presenting curated showcase-style performances in multiple cities annually. Performances are punctuated with guided dialogue afterwards between the artists and the audience, creating an intimate performing arts experience. We are excited to bring this artist-audience interface to the community in Austin!

Small Plates Choreography Festival was created in 2012 by Beth McKee Elliott with the intention to create meaningful performance opportunities for choreographers and dancers, and to cultivate a zoetic interface between movement artists and their audiences. The festival provides a venue for the presentation of curated collections of short dance works to shared audiences, building community through performance, dialogue, and professional networking.

Small Plates host and assistant director, Jennifer Williams, is a local dance artist whose artistic endeavors are fueled by her passion for cultural diversity, human rights, and social justice. Throughout her career, Jennifer has had the opportunity to perform with various choreographers, dance companies and musical theater productions across the United States, from Hawaii to New York. As a longtime resident of Austin, Jennifer is thrilled to host the debut show of Small Plates Austin!
