Smaranam - memory embodied
Description
A Bharata Natyam dance performance by Vaidehi Subramanyan - a traditional margam repertoire.
Smaranam brings memory to life. Vaidehi's intentional presentation of Bharata Natyam’s Nritta (pure dance), Nritya (expressive storytelling) and Natya (dramatic enactment) traces movement and lineage as practice continues to inspire.
Vaidehi Subramanyan is a Bharata Natyam dancer, inspired by her grandmother, the late Thangamani Nagarajan, a senior dancer and teacher of Kalakshetra. Vaidehi is currently training under renowned dancer Christopher Gurusamy. She has performed extensively in India and Canberra and is currently an artist in residence at Canberra Dance Theatre.
