Event description

Faster, smarter, sleeker. This is the reality of the digital world that we live in today. We are surrounded by technology everywhere we turn as organisations continue to innovate, create, and disrupt. Our cities are constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of its inhabitants, whether human, plant, or the furry kind.

It is said that great cities attract, retain, and develop talented individuals and organisations, this creates jobs and supports economic growth. But what does a ‘smart city’ look like?

We're seeing cities around the world using sensors to map the flow of citizens around the CBD, others using robots to direct public transport patrons, and some even using gamification to get more people taking the stairs and throwing their rubbish in the bin.

In our Smart Cities after school program, students will be participating in a series of design sprints to explore how new and emerging technologies are changing the way we live and work now and into the future. This will be a hands-on and creative program that will see students ideating, designing and creating as they look at smart cities around the world, before then looking at how they can turn Ipswich and Brisbane into truly smart cities.
