Event description

Are you between 12-24 years old? Have you ever wanted to make your own film that screen in film festivals around the world? Or are you a content creator or You-tuber and want to learn how to shoot better and professional quality videos? Then this class is for you.

Come and learn everything you need to know to create amazing and professional films on your phone or tablet. We will teach you all about screenwriting, cinematography, resolution, frame rates, editing, music and more but in a super fun and accessible way. Whether you are an absolute beginner or a young pro, we will cover it all. And if you did our class last year then we will be pushing you to extend the skills you learnt to make a more professional and technically advanced film.

The class will run from 10am-1pm and then you will have the afternoon to edit your film that we shoot in class together. At 6:30pm we will host a free screening event where we will screen your film along with all films made in class and some SF3 films in a free family friendly event at The Inverell Club in a true celebration of local talent and filmmaking.

SF3 is one of the biggest smartphone film festivals and smartphone educators in the world and each year we hold an annual festival which includes SF3 Kids - a special awards ceremony and screening for films made by filmmakers 18 years and under. Each student who attends this workshop will get free entry into SF3 2024.

The Workshop Agenda

SF3's Angela Blake will run the workshop alongside local award-winning filmmaker, Michele Jedlicka. Angela will teach an online component of the class on Monday 23rd April from 5:30-7:30pm via Zoom where she will teach all the skills and techniques needed to turn your phone into a professional movie camera. She will also teach screenwriting and start you thinking about what film you will be shooting in Friday's class.

Then on Friday 26th April, you will come to The Inverell Club where Award-Winning filmmaker, Michèle Jedlicka, will guide you through the shooting and editing of your film: giving detailed notes, helping you add music and sound effects, titles, credits and all the little things that will take your films to the next level. She will also teach you all about film festivals and how to not only get into them but how to win awards in them.

All you need to bring with you is your creativity and a device to shoot on.

Bookings are FREE but essential.
