Presented by John Thompson PhD, Parse Biosciences Field Application Scientist

John received his PhD at Duke University, where he studied cis-regulatory element activation during limb regeneration. He then spent a few years as a postdoc at the University of California, Merced where he studied early organ formation using single-cell genetic and epigenetic approaches. As a Field Application Scientist at Parse Biosciences, John assists scientists with their single-cell genomics experiments, from experimental design, sample preparation, single-cell library workflows, data analysis, and more.

Talk: Swimming through murky waters: establishing a protocol for SPLiT-seq on FACS-isolated zebrafish larval macrophages

Dr. Linnerz, who initially studied Biomedical Sciences in Germany with a focus on Infection Biology, transitioned her research during her PhD in Geneva. There, she explored cardiovascular gene expression in zebrafish using CRISPR/Cas9. After joining Auckland University in 2018, she embarked on gout research, investigating the ABCG2 gene's role in inflammation using zebrafish larvae. Her work included scRNAseq experiments, revealing ABCG2's impact on macrophage function, including ferroptotic cell death and impaired response to MSU crystals.
