Event description

Embark on an olfactory odyssey with Smell Art at our Smell Party, a highlight of Hobsons Bay City Council’s Children’s Week festivities!

Tailored for inquisitive youngsters aged 8-12, this interactive event delves into the captivating realm of aromas. Participants will engage in a series of scent-based activities, designed to demystify the science of olfaction and its intricate relationship with taste, memory, and emotion. This sensory exploration not only aligns with Children’s Week’s theme of a clean and safe environment but also emphasises the importance of preserving our natural world to maintain the delicate balance of our senses.

Join us for a memorable sensory journey that promises to be as educational as it is entertaining!

This event is part of Children’s Week 2024, a celebration of the rights of children's talents, skills, achievements and rights. The theme of this year’s Children’s Week focuses on the importance of sustainability and environmental education for young minds - "Children have the right to a clean and safe environment".

In partnership with Smell Art and the State Government of Victoria, this workshop aims to provide a unique sensory experience. By participating, kids will not only have fun but also gain valuable insights into the fascinating world of scents and their impact on our daily lives.

This event will be held on the lands of the Bunurong People of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the lands, rivers and coastal areas in Hobsons Bay. We recognise the First Peoples’ relationship to this land and offer our respect to their Elders past and present.
