SMOKING AND MENTAL HEALTH FORUM

Join our free livestream from anywhere as we discuss the important topic of smoking and mental health. The focus of this symposium will be on the connection between smoking and mental health. Although there has been a large reduction in smoking rates over time, smoking remains a major risk factor contributing to the health, social and economic inequalities in Australia. Furthermore, vaping and the use of electronic cigarettes has also increased. Therefore, we find it extremely important to discuss this topic. Topics discussed may include the development of mental illness and the mechanisms behind tobacco addiction, exacerbation of mental illness through smoking use, cognitive impacts of smoking, smoking trends within different cultures, general health and wellbeing implications as well as discussion around public health campaigns and what more has to be done within this field.
