SMOKO @Katherine Regional Arts

The tripple award winning, one women theatre show, SMOKO is bringing a dose of comedy, puppets and small town mishaps to Katherine!

High-vis glamour meets outback grit in this whip-smart, comedy about landfill life, self-worth, and the rubbish we carry (inside and out). Join Beccy— outback landfill worker, hopeless romantic, and high-vis icon—as she dives headfirst into the filth to find meaning among the mess. With a hapless dating history and a gnawing sense of internal emptiness, Beccy descends into the depths of the dump and into herself to explore what happens when we begin to feel like the disposable items that have infiltrated our modern lives.

SMOKO, directed by Betty Sweetlove, is a hilarious, heartfelt exploration of how we treat each other—and ourselves—in a world obsessed with stuff. Jasmine Story’s sharp writing and fearless performance promise a night of laughter, realness, and maybe a little catharsis. Crow and backdrop by Claude Creighton.

Tickets are strickly limited, so get them before SMOKO sells out! Cost from $5-20!

This show is rated M for audiences 15 and up as there are mild sexual references.

‘Rich in symbolism and pulling every theatre trick out of their dump truck, it’s a holistic reminder of theatre’s capability to transport you to another world without being limited by the size of the room. This show will make you laugh and wonder why you don’t get to the theatre more often.’ – Jay Darroch, Magazine6000, Perth.

‘A unique concept that draws light on mental health issues, queer exploration and sexism while also celebrating the unpolished Aussie lifestyle’ – Glam Adelaide.
