Join us in the Gallery Shop for the launch of Brisbane-based jeweller Katie Bourchier's new collection.
Bourchier approaches jewellery with playful irreverence. Her jewellery is made using the ancient techniques of lost wax casting, and both follows and breaks traditional silversmithing rules.
Bourchier views her process as ritualistic. Through her signature inverted face iconography—a nod to portraiture, cameos, puppetry, and ancient protection symbols—she invites wearers to develop their own personal meanings.

Artist biography
Katie Bourchier is a jewellery and small objects artist, living and making in Meanjin/Brisbane. Bourchier studied Jewellery and Small Objects at the Queensland College of Art, South Bank. She is informed by the ancient techniques of lost wax casting, which translates in the organic, industrial, and otherworldly forms of her work. Taking interest in mythology and ancient history, Bourchier’s signature designs are narratives on the beautiful absurdity of our natural and cosmic worlds.
