Join us for an essential session on snake awareness and first aid with renowned snake expert Geoff Coombe OAM.

Aimed at bushcare volunteers, property owners, and nature enthusiasts, this event will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to safely handle encounters with snakes in natural environments.

Topics covered include:

  • Common snakes you might encounter
  • Busting snake myths and dealing with ophidiophobia (fear of snakes)
  • The latest research on venomous snake behavior, especially Eastern Brown Snakes
  • Basics of snake biology and ecology
  • Identifying local snakes
  • Managing human-snake interactions
  • Snake bite first aid essentials
  • Live demonstration of venomous snakes by Geoff 

About Geoff Coombe OAM

Geoff Coombe, recognised with a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2023, is an expert in snake awareness and first aid. He has been involved with reptiles for many decades and has trained people across Australia and New Zealand in snake handling and safety. As the founder of Living with Wildlife, Geoff has educated thousands of people on safely coexisting with snakes, particularly in urban, rural, and remote environments. He is known for breaking down myths and misconceptions about snakes, helping people respect rather than fear these animals​.
